I was watching one of my favorite movies ever “The Prestige” and the moment I pressed the play button, I got the idea of this article… The intro starts with the deep voice of Christian Bale saying “Are you watching closely?” – hot, isn’t he :D:D – and then Michael Cane continues talking about Magical tricks and the three important parts that must exist in each trick; The Pledge, which is basically about showing you something ordinary. The Turn, which is making that ordinary thing do something extraordinary and finally, The Prestige.
Life is somehow a very complicated magical trick, in THE PLEDGE; we are considered the ordinary things and everything surrounding us as well. THE TURN; it’s when we try to do something or someone do something for us that we may perceive as extraordinary, while actually that thing is very ordinary, but we refuse to believe that it is normal, we refuse to look carefully, we refuse to WATCH, we may get screwed, hurt, fooled and yet we refuse to open our eyes, but then eventually we have to wake up, to move on, to let go, and this is the hardest part of the life trick, and the last part which is called THE PRESTIGE.
Have you ever thought of recording your life and the life of those around you and then put it on and start watching as if you’re the audience and then start analyzing your acts, your behavior, your attitude, how people look at you, how they perceive you and how you perceive others?
I bet you all will find it just the way I previously described life, as if it is a magical trick. There are no victims in life; we ourselves allow others to fool us. We remove the barriers and give people the right to hurt us. We don’t watch closely enough to be alarmed when there is any danger approaching us. We don’t concentrate with ourselves and we look at others’ lives, possessions. We wish we could become other people, we day dream about being the next American idol, the world’s best dancer, or the most famous writer. We see others’ romance lives and we wish we were in their shoes. We forget about what we could make out of what we have and think that if we were like “X” or “Y”, life would have been much better and easier.
So let’s say each one is watching a replay of a daily life, we’ll notice that we all ask ourselves everyday those basic questions, no matter how old are we, our gender, our nationality, social level, status.. No matter who you are; you’ll find yourself asking those questions
What If !
What if instead of choosing this, I chose the other option, what would have happened? What if I called him and told him the whole truth, how would he react? What if she said no, how would I feel then? And so on of those endless questions, those questions we ask every time we meet a situation where we have to make a choice.
Although this question somehow helps in evaluating situations we face, but it could be so devastating that it could be a reason of hesitation and fear to move on or take any step. It can be exhausting because we could never stop thinking about the consequences of taking those actions.
So it comes a point where we have to take a decision and do whatever we see is correct, if it passed, then fine, but what if it didn’t? that will lead to a new question
Are you ready to let go ?
Now we took a decision that became a total failure, we trusted our instincts and guts but it turned out that it was wrong, no matter what the reason could be, circumstances, surroundings, mood, and so on could lead to the success or failure of a decision, but what if it failed?
Will you let it go or you’ll stick to it that it would keep you from moving on?
You have fallen in love, been in a relationship, and the other person turned out to be an a**hole, will you let this prevent you from moving on and finding that real person who would totally love you and give you their whole world.
You work at a certain place, and people there are so mean, they envy each other and talk about each other in a bad way, will you quit work and stay at home?
You found out that those you trusted are opportunistic, and can stab you in the back, will you apply this to all people and stop knowing others and become an introvert?
If you stick to the past, if you don’t let go.. Old pains, cuts and bruises will keep you chained, will blind you from seeing the right from the wrong, so instead of taking one wrong decision, you’ll take another wrong one and a third wrong one and so on, till your life become a total mess.
Move On.. Let Go.. Think of the options.. Ask others for help and most of all remain silent and concentrate, isolate your senses from the outer world, communicate with your inner self and God, in brief; WATCH YOUR LIFE CLOSELY. Forget about others, think of what you have, seek a better life with better chances and opportunities, but not because so & so did that, but because you’re doing it for yourself.
So Are You Watching Closely? If not, then start now, are you carrying an old pain? Are you afraid to move on and take a serious step?
Think and let yourself know
